What Plutus imports

• Vendor bills and expense purchases, by vendor

Connecting

Method: OAuth2 (Intuit)

1. In the Intuit Developer portal, create an app and authorize it against your QuickBooks company. This gives you a Client ID, a Client Secret, a refresh token, and your Company (Realm) ID.
2. In Plutus, enter the Client ID, Client Secret, refresh token, and Company (Realm) ID.
3. Name the expense accounts that hold your software and infrastructure spend, exactly as they appear in your chart of accounts (for example, Software Subscriptions, Computer & Internet Expenses). This field is required — without it, Plutus would import your entire expense ledger, including rent, payroll, and travel, and every chart would describe it as technology spend. Only lines posted to the accounts you name are read: a bill that mixes a subscription with an office expense contributes the subscription line only.
4. Save the connection. As with any payment-side source, newly discovered vendors are held until you decide what each one is.

Notes

Intuit issues a new refresh token on each refresh and expires the previous one within 24 hours. Plutus stores the replacement automatically, so you should not need to reconnect — but a QuickBooks refresh token that goes 100 days without being used expires permanently, and reconnecting is the only way back from that.
