Connecting
Section titled “Connecting”Method: Restricted API Key
- In the Stripe Dashboard, go to Developers > API keys, then click Create restricted key.
- Grant Read access to Customers and Subscriptions. No other permissions are needed.
- Copy the key and paste it into the Restricted API Key field in Plutus. A key scoped to read-only Customers/Subscriptions access is strongly preferred over your full secret key.
- Click Save & connect, then Sync now to pull new and canceled subscriptions onto your cost charts.
This overlays subscription lifecycle events (new, canceled) — the self-serve-SaaS analog of the Salesforce event source’s onboarding/churn markers. To track Stripe’s processing fees as a cost instead, connect the separate “Stripe” cost source.
